Do you notice young people having trouble concentrating for sustained periods of time? Do they have trouble spending quality time without their screens? Have you ever stopped and asked yourself what impact of spending many hours on your computer, tablet, smart phone, or TV may have on your young people’s brains and their ability to learn? This session:
Will report on recent startling research about some of the negative impacts digital distraction is having on all of our brains, and particularly young people.
Will report on recent scientific data on the risks technological devices are having on the developing brain, with a focus on learning.
It is intended to provoke thoughtful dialogue and more mindful approaches to using technology in the classroom and at home.
Strategies to create more balanced and healthy interactions with technology will be explored.
Report Cards for 2018/19 Period 2 (of 3) will go home with all K-8 students on this date.
